This Week’s BBH Breakfast SPEAKER: Chris Scott – TurnerScott Consulting & CanSurvive Australia

Theme: Leadership, Purpose & Making an Impact

What happens when decades of corporate leadership experience are combined with a genuine desire to make a difference in the community?

This week we welcome Chris Scott, an experienced CEO, strategist, governance specialist and business advisor whose career has spanned the health sector, commercial enterprises, consulting and the not-for-profit world.

Chris brings more than 25 years of experience at Chief Executive Officer level, along with extensive experience in corporate governance and board leadership. Through TurnerScott Consulting, he has worked with leaders and organisations on strategy, leadership, governance and creating stronger, more effective organisations.

Today, Chris is also Executive Chair and Chief Executive Officer of CanSurvive Australia, a Sunshine Coast-based not-for-profit organisation supporting individuals, families and friends affected by cancer and chronic illness.

His involvement with CanSurvive brings another dimension to his considerable business experience — taking the skills developed through decades of leadership and applying them to an organisation driven by community, compassion and purpose.

Chris has also contributed extensively to community organisations throughout his career, including serving as a Life Member of the Association of Apex Clubs and in numerous board and community roles.

This week Chris will give BBH members an opportunity to hear from someone who has experienced leadership from many different perspectives — CEO, consultant, board director, community leader and not-for-profit executive — and explore what those experiences have taught him about business, people and purpose.

Discussion Question:

If you could use one skill, resource or connection from your business to make a positive difference in the community, what would it be — and who could it help?

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Knowledge:
Chris's career is a great reminder that the experience, networks and skills we develop through business can have value far beyond our own organisations. Come ready to think about what you've learned through business — and where else that knowledge could make an impact.
